01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Pop Fizz is an outstanding ice cream shop nestled at 530 Bridge Blvd SW in Albuquerque, NM, offering an irresistible array of frozen treats and savory bites that perfectly capture the vibrant spirit of New Mexican flavors. Specializing in expertly-crafted paletas, floats, and hot sandwiches, this bright and inviting spot provides a colorful and refreshing escape that delights all the senses.

The star of the menu has to be their luscious paletas, which come in a variety of fruit-forward and special flavors. Imagine biting into a refreshingly tart strawberry or tangy lime paleta, or daring to try the playful mango chile or cucumber chile lime varieties that provide just the right kick of spice and zest. For something truly indulgent, the special paletas like avocado, strawberry banana, and carrot cake offer a creamy texture and unexpected richness, all at budget-friendly prices starting as low as $1.99.

But Pop Fizz is more than just an ice cream shop. Their hot sandwiches make for a surprising twist to your typical ice cream outing. The Turkey Avocado Green Chile Sandwich perfectly blends juicy oven-roasted turkey with the smoky heat of Hatch green chile, sharp cheddar cheese, and creamy avocado, served on a buttery bun that melts in your mouth. Equally mouthwatering is the Green Chile Philly Sandwich, loaded with seasoned sirloin steak, grilled onions, and melted provolone on a toasted bun—a hearty complement to your sweet treats.

For those craving a delicious fusion of cold and creamy with a touch of nostalgia, the float offerings shine. The Purple Cow Float, a vibrant mix of grape soda and vanilla ice cream, conjures joyful childhood memories, while the creamsicle root beer and strawberry banana floats offer a refreshing fruity twist perfect for sunny Albuquerque days.

Customers rave about Pop Fizz's colorful and lively atmosphere. "Walking in is like entering a rainbow wonderland of yum," shares H.B., capturing the joyful vibe of the shop. Angelica Turrieta highlights the comfortable outdoor seating and ample parking, a boon for cyclists exploring the nearby Rio Grande trail. The convenience of a friendly staff and the presence of a popular food truck only add to the welcoming local charm, as noted by Xayo Meunphalangchai.

While some find the pricing slightly on the higher side for certain items, many agree that the quality and flavor justify every penny. Sue Ribeiro praises the flavorful grilled steak quesadilla complemented by fresh guacamole and sour cream, while Jennifer D enthusiastically recommends the carne asada fries.

Overall, Pop Fizz offers an authentic New Mexican treat experience that transcends the ordinary ice cream shop. Its unique combination of spicy and sweet, savory and cold, traditional and inventive, ensures every visit is a delight. Whether you're craving a cool paleta after a bike ride or a hearty sandwich paired with a nostalgic float, Pop Fizz promises a vibrant, flavorful, and truly memorable indulgence in the heart of Albuquerque.

Best place to find deliciously crafted paletas at a very reasonable place. Plenty of parking and great covered outdoor seating. Definitely a must if cycling along the Rio Grande.

Pop Fizz is my go-to spot for paletas, and don't get me started on their ice cream tacos! You can taste the quality of their ingredients and prices are super affordable. Walking in is like entering a rainbow wonderland of yum. I also love seeing their food truck and honestly can't think of a time I didn't get something when I saw it! Local perfection.

Carne asada fries were the bomb. The food was a little pricey though. I didn't try the desserts but they sound amazing.

The google listing of the menu is outdated!! Get current, Google! The staff were friendly, service great, clean and even room to sit inside( 3 tables and stools at a bar). Opens at 11 am, and paletas are delicious- $2.50 each. Chocolate tacos are $6. The quesadilla comes with sour cream and guacamole, adding the grilled steak for $2 made it almost $7. But delicious!! Such flavorful beef. Hope to go again and try one of their many creative flavored popsicles!!

Cute snack shop in the Hispanic Culture Center has food (sandwiches, frito pies), ice cream, sodas, and beer. Outside area has shaded picnic tables and there are also a few tables inside. It gets crowded inside because of the way the counter is set up, so send one person in to order. My favorite is pistachio paleta.
